Every Friday at Von King park in our hearts sets up their Free store. A store where everything is free. Look around take what you want, bring donations of things you no longer want or use and they will put the items out so others who need them or want them can take them home.
It is mutual aid in action. Bringing the community together in a way where everyone can participate. It is a nice place to come and sit and hang out for a while, look at the zine collection, pick up some reading material. Meet people from in our heats and the community. Kids walking home from school stopping by to see what they might find to bring home with them. Mothers walking babies in strollers bringing bags of clothes to put out.
Since last August the free store has been here just about every Friday, weather permitting. The store is open from 12-6pm every Friday at Von King park on the corner of Marcy and Lafayette in Brooklyn. Come stop by and say hi, help set up or clean up, help keep everything organized or just come by to check out what treasure you might find. This is just one more piece of the puzzle of those living the solutions. Actions changing our world for the better, changing minds, changing hearts. The world needs more free stores. Start one up where you live.
