So many things were going on in NYC for May Day, I can only talk about what I did and what my experiences were. In no way is this all that went on. I didn’t get to attend the Anti-capitalist march or the free university and that’s just to mention a few of the things I missed
I started out at Bryant park, I planned to do all things guitarmy and the guitarmy would be going on the Immigrant workers march so that where I headed to meet them
The march left a little after noon, took a tour all around the area stopping at businesses the immigrant worker groups had something to say about. In between stops the guitarmy marched, played and sang our songs.
The guitarmy left the immigrant workers march to take the subway to union so we got to sing a little bit for everyone aboard our subway car. The happy train ; )
I didn’t get any pictures of the people’s kitchen but they were there serving everyone food at Union square, at Foley square, and at Zuccotti. They were set up right next to In our hearts, you can see Heather standing up in the picture above.
May Day turned out to be a great day. It was nice to see so many people and to reconnect with them once again for this day. It was inspiring to see all that was going on in one day and to know you are not alone. We are all a piece of the puzzle and although we are not always together so that we know it we are all working still all the time in the fight for a better world for all people. We are united and it’s days such as May Day where you can visually see the people, all the different groups coming together in one place at one time and you know it’s still going strong because nothing has changed, Shit’s still fucked up and bullshit
